Thank you for your interest in the department of neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Neurosurgery has a long-standing tradition at BCM as the department was founded in 1959. The department has grown considerably during the last several decades. We are proud to offer subspecialty expertise in virtually all areas of neurosurgery. The breadth and depth of the skill of our neurosurgical faculty is second to none. We are committed to providing the best patient care with an emphasis on compassion, excellent outcomes, clinical and basic research.
We are also dedicated to neurosurgery education and have been training neurosurgery residents for over 60 years. DeBakey Veterans Administration Medical Center (one of the busiest neurosurgery services in the VA system and a Parkinson’s Disease Research, Education, and Clinical Center).
Our research includes the latest clinical trials, basic science research, and translational studies. The Department is ranked #3 in the United States in terms of Federal Funding (brimr.org). Together, our team aspires to provide the best care possible supported by the latest surgical technology and cutting-edge research.
