Welcome to the Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Our section is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, scholarly activities and community engagement. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings as well as hospitalized patients. Our collaborative interdisciplinary teams practice at Baylor Medicine Clinic, Baylor St. Luke’s Hospitals (Medical Center, Sugarland, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Our faculty is involved in training the next generation of clinicians through educating hundreds of medical students and residents every year. Many of our section members are leaders in medical education and serve such roles as associate and assistant deans, course directors, and associate program directors for our internal medicine residency.

In addition, our section members lead key committees at Baylor College of Medicine and in our affiliated hospitals to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our patients, staff and trainees.

Our faculty have received local, regional, national and global recognition for their academic efforts, clinical innovations and service activities covering a broad range of topics, including hypertension, diabetes, women’s health, quality improvement, social determinants of health, medical education and narrative medicine.

We are committed to providing outstanding, evidence-based, high-quality care to all of our patients - the kind of care we would want for our loved ones. Please explore our website to learn more about our incredible section members, educational endeavors, scholarly work and advocacy efforts to promote the health of our community, locally and globally.
