Cell Line Quality Control for the Human Stem Cell Core

Master
Content

The Human Stem Cell Core at Baylor College of Medicine offers quality control testing of Baylor and collaborator generated cell lines. The core also offers a variety of quality control services from alkaline phosphatase assays to teratoma formation assays. The core has the experience and expertise to perform the assays as well as consult investigators.

Teratoma Formation Assay

Content

The teratoma assay is a functional assay to prove pluripotency. The ability of the cells to induce the formation of a Teratoma containing all three distinct germ layers, gives confidence of the cells ability to differentiate. The cells are processed and injected into SCID mice, the mice are observed for the formation of a teratoma and processed accordingly.
