DNA Quality Control

Before DNA samples can be processed for NanoString and Sequencing, they must be tested for quality assurance and quantitated on the NanoDrop Spectrophotometer (purity) and Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer (concentration). Depending on the sample type, sample integrity may be tested on the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (cDNA or PCR product) or Agilent 2200 TapeStation (gDNA, cDNA or PCR product). Additionally, for Illumina libraries, a qPCR assay is performed for quantitation. GARP recommends completing an RNase treatment for all DNA samples to prevent the occurrence of false-positive results.

Users should submit DNA samples for SAQC on GSLE prior to requesting services.

The GARP recommends using a kit to isolate and extract total DNA samples. We have found that the DNeasy kits from Qiagen work especially well. For more information, please see Specifications - 2100 Bioanalyzer DNA Kits.

*Notice: Starting July 1, 2013, all DNA QC requests will have an extra fee of $5/sample to account for Qubit measurements.
