FLT3 Mutation Analysis
Test Information: Indication for Study:

Identification of internal tandem duplications (ITD) and D835 mutations in the FLT3 gene.
Test Details
Test Code: 9045
Special Notes: Mutation of the FLT3 receptor, either by internal tandem duplication (ITD) of the juxtamembrane domain or by point mutation of the aspartic acid residue D835 in the activation loop of the kinase domain, causes constitutive activation of the FLT3 receptor. Recent studies have indicated that mutation of FLT3 leads to a worse outcome and poor response to standard chemotherapeutic interventions in AML.

Technical Limitations:

This test is designed to detect ITD and D835 mutations in the FLT3 gene only. The limit of detection for this assay is approximately 5 mutated cells in 100 total cells (5%).
