Test Information: Predicts response to tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy.
Test Details
Test Code: 9030
Special Notes: This test detects mutations in EGFR exons 18, 19, 20 and 21.

Samples received will be tested by ARUP.

Technical Information
Methodology: Polymerase Chain Reaction/Pyrosequencing
Gene Name: EGFR
Protein Name: Epidermal growth factor receptor
Sample & Shipping Information
Test Requisition: Tumor Analysis
Specimen Type: FFPE - Slide(s)
Requirements: 5 unstained 5um FFPE slides (Min: 3 slides) containing adequate amounts of tumor to be analyzed. Please include a copy of corresponding surgical pathology report. A Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) smear may also be submitted. Prepare FNA smear with Diff-Quik or equivalent stain by standard methods (air-dried slides are preferred). Number of slides needed is dependent on the tumor cellularity of the smear. (Min: 1 slide). Slide(s) will be destroyed during testing process and will not be returned to client.
Shipping Conditions: Ship at ambient temperature (18-25C/64-77F). Also acceptable: Refrigerated. Protect paraffin tissue from excessive heat. Ship in cooled container during summer months.

Unacceptable Conditions: Less than 25 percent tumor. Specimens fixed/processed in alternative fixatives (alcohol, Prefer) or heavy metal fixatives. Decalcified specimens. FNA smears with less than 50 tumor cells.

Stability: Ambient: Indefinitely; Refrigerated: Indefinitely; Frozen: Unacceptable
