Special Notes: Test code 8490 is to be used when requesting FISH for X and Y centromere analysis. This test does not assess for aneuploidy of chromosomes 13, 18 or 21, or for the SRY locus on chromosome Y. Test code 8426 FISH for X and SRY and/or test code 8425 FISH for 13, 18, 21, X and Y centromere should be considered for appropriate indications.

Test code 8490 FISH for X and Y centromere studies MUST be accompanied by either CMA - HR (#8655), or Chromosome Analysis - Postnatal (#8600).

Requirements: Draw blood in a Sodium Heparin (green-top) tube(s) and send 3-5 cc (Adults/children) or 1-2 cc (infant< 2 years).
Shipping Conditions: Ship at room temperature in an insulated container by overnight courier. Specimen should arrive in the laboratory within 48 hrs of collection. Do not heat or freeze.
