X-Ray Facility

Macromolecular X-Ray Crystallography Facility

The Macromolecular X-Ray Crystallography Facility in the Department of Biochemistry is managed by the Tsai and Lee laboratories and provides a centralized, state-of-the-art resource for the acquisition of atomic resolution, 3D structure information of macromolecules, including proteins, nucleic acids, and their complexes with small molecule inhibitors. The facility features a Rigaku FR-E+ SuperBright microfocus rotating anode generator with VariMax HF optics, which represents the latest technology available in a home x-ray source, in addition to the necessary hardware and computer software for data acquisition, data processing, and finding a structure solution from single crystal diffraction data. The facility is open to members of Baylor College of Medicine and neighboring Texas Medical Center institutions through collaboration. Both assisted and unassisted data collection services are offered. For further details, please contact the Director, Dr. Sukyeong Lee.
