Proteomics Core

photo of mass spectrometers

Two capillary HPLC-ESI-LTQ mass spectrometer instruments used for protein ID and PTM site mapping

The proteomics core utilizes mass spectrometers in the Qin lab to meet the proteomic needs of DRC members. The two capillary HPLC-ESI-LTQ instruments were purchased using start-up fund and the NURSA grant. The DRC grant provides partial support for technical personnel.

The core provides services for protein identification and post-translational modification (PTM) sites mapping with mass spectrometry incorporating database searching. DRC members submit protein bands excised from SDS-PAGE gel to the core for analysis.

  • $250/band is charged for protein ID
  • $800/band for phosphorylation site mapping
  • $2,000/band for combined phosphorylation, methylation, and acetylation site mapping
  • $2,000 is charged for ubiquitination site mapping.
