Calories

In scientific terms, a calorie is the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius from a standard initial temperature.  Food supplies calories. We need calories for growth, repair, and body functioning. The number of calories you need each day depends on your body size and activity level.
