Education:

B.S., 1984, Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Jiangsu Agricultural College, China
M.S., 1987, Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Jiangsu Agricultural College, China
Ph.D., 1996, Department of Microbiology, Michigan State University

Research Interest:

The Li lab primarily studies breast cancer initiation using mouse models. Using the RCAS/TVA technology to introduce oncogenes into different subsets of mammary cells (stem cells, progenitor cells, and more differentiated epithelial cells) in vivo, this lab attempts to understand how these different subsets of mammary cells respond to oncogenic damage, and how cell differentiation affects breast cancer initiation. Specific genes of interest include Wnt, ErbB2, STAT, and ID4.
