Transgene Preparation – Lentivirus Protocol
By utilizing transduction of embryos with lentivirus, a greater variety of transgenic mice can be produced. This allows for production of animal models that cannot be produced by traditional DNA microinjection.
A thawed aliquot of the Lentiviral DNA (10 to the 6th viral particles/ml) or a frozen vial with higher titer of virus should be delivered to the GEM Core attached to a copy of the request. All Lentivirus should be defective and self-inactivating. Contact the GEM Core for delivery (Memsmail@bcm.edu).
