Professional Statement

After earning her Bachelor of Medicine degree from Seth G.S. Medical College, Mumbai, India, Dr. Shah completed her internal medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center. She then pursued a fellowship in cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Shah's areas of interest are heart failure, valvular heart diseases, quality Improvement and patient safety. Dr. Shah is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. She serves on several committees at the VA and on national committees at the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, including the Early Career Section Leadership Council and Heart Failure and Transplant Section Leadership Council of the American College of Cardiology. She is the Co-Chair of the Communication work group of the Early Career Leadership Council. She was a member of the writing group for the 2017 American Heart Association Statement on Meditation and Cardiovascular Risk Reduction. She is the principal investigator and co–principal investigator for several clinical trials at the VA. She has been awarded the Early Career Award for Excellence in Patient Care by Baylor College of Medicine. She also received the Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching and Education and Development of Enduring Educational Materials. Dr. Shah was selected to join Cohort III of the American College of Cardiology’s prestigious Leadership Academy program, a 2-year leadership development program designed to provide a broad understanding of leadership styles and skills.
