Professional Statement

My clinical practice involves the diagnosis, counseling and management of individuals with rare genetic disorders. I have a passion for the evaluation of complex phenotypes and multi-system disease. I perform inpatient and outpatient medical genetics consultations for Texas Children’s Hospital.

As a clinician-educator I am involved in teaching medical students, genetic counseling students and medical residents. Revolutionary changes in healthcare are demanding physicians excel in team-based care and complex health systems. The recent wave of personalized medicine, including the use of genome sequencing, requires longitudinal integration of the basic sciences with the clinical sciences. I enjoy the challenge of adapting teaching techniques to meet the needs of this ever-changing healthcare landscape.
