Rami Aboumourad, OD is a practicing Optometrist at the Alkek Eye Center who specializes in the diagnosis and management of ophthalmic diseases. He attended Optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry and completed post-graduate residency training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.

Dr. Aboumourad has a passion for detection and early identification of ocular disease. Many diseases of the eye can be detected long before they are symptomatic, and often, there is a window to act where damage to structures of the eye can be minimized. Dr. Aboumourad has a particular interest in management of systemic diseases and syndromes that have ophthalmic manifestations such as hypertension, diabetes, and autoimmune disease.

Dr. Aboumourad is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, Texas Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association. He is a Houston native who enjoys grilling, exercising, and going on hikes.
