Graduate Student Symposium

The Graduate Student Symposium will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2008 in Cullen Auditorium and Rayzor Lounge. This year's Joseph L. Melnick Distinguished Guest Lecturer is Evan Eichler, Ph.D., a former BCM graduate student. The title of his talk is, "Human Genome Structural Variation, Disease and Evolution." Come hear some of the groundbreaking research being conducted by graduate students at BCM and support your departmental speakers! 1st year students, remember classes are being canceled so that you can attend the Symposium.
Information for Poster Presenters
If your name is on this list, you checked the box on the abstract submission form to present a poster at the symposium and a board will be rented for you. The poster size is 4x4 and must be ready no later than Monday, October 20. If your name is not on the list, you did not check the box on the abstract submission form and therefore a board will not be rented for you.
Please remember all posters must fit in a 4x4 space. You will be sharing a board with someone else , so make sure your poster is not larger than 4x4 . Please remember to bring push pins or something to secure your poster. We will not be furnishing push pins. The poster boards will be delivered Monday (October 20). They will be ready for you to put your poster on at 1:00 PM. In order to be judged, your poster must be up no later than 7:00 am on Tuesday, October 21. Preliminary judging (without you present) will take place on Tuesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 22. This year all posters will be displayed in the Rayzor Lounge (above cafeteria). The poster finalist will be announced on Thursday morning. If you are a finalist, you must stand by your poster where you will be judged by 3 faculty members from 11:30 - 1:00 on Thursday. Your poster must be taken down anytime after the guest speaker on Thursday (6:00 PM) but no later than 10 :00 am on Friday, October 24.
