Advanced Technology Cores - AIM Core: The Patient-Derived Xenograft (PDX) and Advanced In Vivo Models Core provides a unique in ovo platform that complements growth of PDX tumors in mice.  PDXs are engrafted and grown on the chicken egg chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) of live embryos as vascularized 3-D tumors or as organoids from existing cancer cell lines.  Core services include development and optimization of custom bioassays for assessing drug or other therapeutic interventions on 3-D growth, neovascularization, invasion, migration & metastasis and harvesting of tumor cells for biomarker studies. The Core also offers bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging services that complement CAM model experiments in addition to in vitro and in vivo applications using IVIS lumina III instrumentation. Key Advantages of the CAM Model include more rapid turnaround times and cost-effectiveness compared to mouse experiments, highly scalable project designs for drug screening projects and opportunity to assess effects of co-cultured microenvironment & cells.  For more information, visit AIM’s website.
