Caption: Baylor College of Medicine will welcome the inaugural class of medical students to the new Temple regional campus in Summer 2023. Four-year medical students will be trained at Baylor Scott & White Hospital, a 636-bed teaching hospital in Temple. Applications are open for both the Houston and Temple campuses. Faculty Kudos

Dr. Philip Lupo, professor of pediatrics – hematology and oncology, was invited to serve as a member of the editorial board of Pediatric Blood and Cancer. Editorial board members are recognized for their expertise and contributions in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology and will serve as manuscript reviewers in their areas of expertise, advise on policies and new features while suggesting topics for review articles or supplements

Research Investigator Spring Learning Series: Baylor's Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) will host the final lecture in the Research Investigator Spring Learning Series on Engagement, Communication and Education at noon July 20. Dr. Mina Silberberg from Duke Global Health Institute will deliver a lecture, "Value and impact of community-engaged approaches – from local to global perspectives." Register to attend the virtual meeting.

Pelvic pain seminar: A free seminar is being offered by Baylor and Texas Children's for women experiencing pelvic pain at 6:30 p.m. July 21 at the Pavilion for Women, 6651 Main Street. Topics will include the root causes of pelvic pain, the challenges of diagnosis, the latest in treatments and more. Learn more and register here.

Microsoft TEAMS sessions: The Information Technology Business Enablement Team offers weekly coaching sessions on Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Storage. The Microsoft Teams sessions are especially helpful to those who are migrating to Teams Telephony. These sessions are offered at 9 a.m. Tuesdays, 7 a.m. Wednesdays and 1 p.m. Thursdays. Sign up here. Department and individual sessions also are available by appointment here.

IT Help Desk: Beginning Sept. 1, the Help Desk email address it-support@bcm.edu will be retired. Tickets will no longer be created by using this address. You may still create a ticket by visiting the IT Portal and using the "Report a Problem" feature or by contacting the Help Desk via phone at (713) 798-8737.

Investigation courses: Registration is open through July 15 for the Fundamentals of Clinical Investigation (Aug. 1-18) and Responsible Conflict of Interest for Clinical Investigators (Aug. 22-25) courses offered by the Clinical Scientist Training Program. Registration forms and more information are available on the CSTP Courses website. All classes meet in person.

Faculty Opportunities

PPS Facilitator: The School of Medicine is recruiting for a Patient, Physician & Society (PPS) I/II Faculty Facilitator for academic year 2022-23. PPS I/II is Baylor's foundational doctoring course that teaches basic communication, history and physical exam skills. This is a great opportunity to impact students in their earliest clinical education and is a substantive addition to the CV. This is a 0.1 FTE-supported position. Interested faculty should submit a one-page statement of interest, their CV and a letter of support from their department chair to Ebony.Washington@bcm.edu by July 15. MSTP associate director: The Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D./Ph.D. Program) is seeking applications for an associate director. Applications are sought from full-time faculty members to fill one associate director position. The newly appointed associate director will play an essential role in overseeing the MSTP along with two co-directors, Drs. Katherine King and Benjamin Frankfort, two other associate directors, and three full-time administrative staff. Faculty should submit a one-page summary of experience with physician-scientist training and their reasons for interest. Please provide this summary, along with a current CV, and apply here. Committee openings: Faculty are needed to serve on two committees. The Student Appeals and Grievances Committee provides advice during final resolution of student appeals and grievances. The Student Services Committee provides a forum for discussing a wide range of student issues related to the academic and institutional learning environments to enhance students' experiences and learning outcomes. Interested faculty can contact Neelam Ali or Dr. Carolyn Smith for more information. Deadline to apply is July 24.
