Emergency medicine physicians recognized
Montgomery County Hospital District Emergency Medical Services, led by two BCM emergency medicine physicians, received the 2013 Texas EMS Provider of Year Award at the Texas EMS Conference held in Fort Worth last month. Dr. Mark Escott and Dr. Brett Monroe, both assistant professors of medicine – emergency medicine, serve as medical director and associate medical director of the MCHD EMS, respectively. The award honors a ground or air EMS organization that demonstrates leadership in patient care, public access, medical control, disaster preparedness, public education and training.
Cancer Center’s outreach efforts honored
BCM’s Dan L Duncan Cancer Center Office of Outreach and Health Disparities has received three Web Health Awards in the Interactive Content / Rich Media category for its multimedia games that promote healthy eating. The awards included a Gold for What’s in It? – The Food Label Game, a Bronze for Create-a-Plate – The Food Portions Game and a Merit award for Check Out Your Choices – The Supermarket Game. The Web Health Awards, in its 15th year, recognize high-quality digital health resources.

The deadline to nominate faculty for the 2014 Barbara and Corbin J. Robertson Jr. Presidential Award for Excellence in Education is Dec. 16. This prestigious, college-wide award for faculty educational service is offered for active faculty members who have made stellar and enduring contributions to the educational mission of the College.
