Agrawal honored as Apple distinguished educator

Dr. Anoop AgrawalDr. Anoop Agrawal, assistant professor of medicine and the medicine-pediatrics residency program director, won a 2015 Apple Distinguished Educator Award. Agrawal is focused on integrating instructional technologies, like the iPad, into the learning environment. The program recognizes pioneers in K-12 and in higher education who use a variety of Apple products to transform teaching and learning. Watch a video on Agrawal’s innovative use of technology.

Blaney elected chair of CPRIT committee

Dr. Susan BlaneyDr. Susan Blaney, professor of pediatrics and deputy director of Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers, recently was elected to serve as chair of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Advisory Committee on Childhood Cancers. Blaney, who has been a member of the committee for three years, will serve a two-year term. The committee advises CPRIT’s Oversight Committee and provides information and opportunities for innovative research as it relates to the treatment, care, prevention and control of childhood cancer.

DocTalk July 21

Dr. Theodore ShybutThe next DocTalk is Tuesday, July 21, from noon to 12:45 p.m. in Cullen Auditorium featuring Dr. Theodore Shybut, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery, talking about sports injuries and surgery. Bring your own lunch. Eligible employees who attend will receive 200 Vitality points. DocTalk is a new informational series that offers a chance to meet Baylor faculty and learn about health topics and ask questions.

Market Days at BCM July 22

Market Days at BCM will be held Wednesday, July 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Rayzor Lounge at the main Baylor campus. Vendors will include Brenham Kitchens, Chocolate and Sweetness, Gold Leaf Coffee and Kristi’s Kitchen. Faculty meetings July 23

Faculty meetings will be held on Thursday, July 23, at noon and 5 p.m. in Cullen Auditorium. Topics will include development of a faculty representative body. Remote locations will be available for those who cannot attend in person. View the list of remote locations.

Workshop on BCM’s new digital presentation technologies

McMillian and Kleberg Auditoriums are now equipped with technologies for lecture capture, video conferencing, webcasting and AirMedia wireless presentation. AirMedia wireless presentation also is available in Cullen Auditorium and Alkek N315, 187A, 308A and N317. Learn how to use the new wireless digital technologies in one of three workshops conducted by Rob Dickehuth, manager of audio-visual technology and services, Office of Information Technology. Advance registration is not required.
