Coronavirus Information

At-work guidelines for health and safety

COVID-19 cases are increasing in our area. Please practice the following measures when on the Baylor College of Medicine campus for the health of our community:

  • Maintain social distancing and wear masks in all areas. This includes social distancing in hallways and common areas such as breakrooms and a two-person max on elevators. Cloth masks must be worn in all areas, except for areas and/or situations where PPE is already required.
  • Keep meetings and other gatherings under 25 people.
  • Practice proper hand hygiene. See hand hygiene guidelines. Departments, offices, etc. can request alcohol-based sanitizing spray bottles by completing this form
  • Stay home if sick!

Show us how you're masking up!

Mask Up

Wearing a mask can help slow the spread of COVID-19, and at Baylor we're doing our part by always wearing our masks in public and common spaces. Show how you were #CalledToCare to protect the community by sharing a photo of you in your Baylor College of Medicine mask at the grocery store, when you're picking up food like the two BCM employees pictured here, at the park, running errands and at work. Send photos to Anna Kiappes to be shared on Baylor's social media. Also, read this Houston Chronicle op-ed, where Dr. Shubhada Hooli of Baylor and Texas Children's Hospital makes a heartfelt plea for us all to wear our masks!

BCM students and physicians named Schweitzer fellows

Baylor medical students Sarah Heady, Claire Luo, Suruchi Salgar, Rachel Shenoi and Christopher Wong have been selected as Albert Schweitzer Fellows from the Houston-Galveston area for 2020-21. In addition, seven physician fellows have been selected for the program: Sarah Heathcote, Dhvani Shanghvi, Amanda Small, Nawara Alawa, Andria Tatem, Amber Berry and Theodor Uzamere. Schweitzer fellows design and implement yearlong community projects that address unmet health needs in underserved populations. In response to current issues, racism has been identified as a public health issue as a track to pursue through fellow projects. Fellows also are adjusting projects due to COVID-19, including responding to the health needs of their population brought about by the pandemic. Learn more about the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.
