Longtime faculty member Dr. Baruch Brody, Leon Jaworski Professor of Biomedical Ethics and director of the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at BCM, will retire from BCM at the end of this month. The BCM community is invited to a reception for Brody June 18 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Rayzor Lounge.
The reception honoring Dr. Wah Chiu on his election to the National Academy of Sciences was rescheduled and will now be held Thursday, June 21, at 4 p.m. in the Alkek/DeBakey Lobby. Chiu is the Alvin Romansky professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and director of the National Center for Macromolecular Imaging.
The Summer Medical and Research Training Program is looking for faculty who can serve as mentors and provide opportunities for clinical interaction for SMART program participants. Some of the ways faculty can mentor students include taking a group of participants on rounds, allowing participants to visit their clinic and discussing clinical training and their specialties with participants.
For more information or to obtain a mentor form, contact Kerri Mejia at firstname.lastname@example.org. Most of the students will leave by July 30, so respond as quickly as possible.
Registration is open for BCM’s 39th Annual Medical Terminology/Anatomy and Physiology Course, which begins Sept. 18 and runs through Nov. 13. All nine classes will be held in room M-112 (DeBakey building) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Those wishing to register can obtain forms from Dr. Robert E. Roush, 713-798-4611 or email@example.com. Register online and find more information.
