VA psychologist honored by local group

Dr. Ashley Clinton Dr. Ashley Clinton, assistant professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a psychologist at the DeBakey VA Medical Center, was honored by the Veterans County Service Officers Association of Texas (Harris County) for her work with veterans who served in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nelson named journal editor

Dr. David Nelson Dr. David Nelson, the Cullen Foundation Chair in Molecular and Human Genetics, began serving as new editor of the American Journal of Human Genetics on Jan. 1. A monthly publication of the American Society of Human Genetics, the journal is a leading international genetics journal. Its new editorial office is now located at BCM in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics.

Eagleman honor

Dr. David Eagleman, assistant professor of neuroscience, was named one of the Brainiest and Brightest Idea Guys for 2012 by Italy's Style Magazine and was featured on the magazine's cover.


Full-time faculty meeting set

The annual meeting of the full-time faculty will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. in Cullen Auditorium. It will be videotaped for those unable to attend. The meeting will include an update on the strategic planning process and the priorities in all the college's mission areas.

BCM Student-Faculty Mentoring Program looking for new mentors

New mentors are being sought for the BCM Student-Faculty Mentoring Program. The mentors will serve as facilitators for the BCM doctoring course, Patient, Physician, and Society (PPS). PPS has the primary goal of teaching basic interviewing and physical examination skills, medical communication and reinforcing the fundamental values of the medical profession.

In addition to facilitating the PPS course, mentors will facilitate their students' personal and professional development through individual meetings every six months. For more information, contact Cindy Patton in the Undergraduate Medical Education Office at 713-798-7571 or cpatton@bcm.edu.
