College News

Flu season reminders

Texas is experiencing high activity this flu season. Baylor healthcare providers are reminded that they should be vaccinated if they have not already done so and should still encourage patients to receive the vaccine. In addition, early antiviral treatment should be considered for patients with confirmed or suspected influenza who present with significant illness or are at higher risk for influenza complications. Flu shots are available to faculty and staff on a walk-in basis in the Occupational Health Clinic, suite 1375 at the Baylor Clinic.

Web-based faculty review system

A web-based, fully-automated annual faculty review system is now available. The annual faculty review process will foster faculty growth and development by facilitating meaningful discussion between faculty member and supervisor. The discussion of faculty contribution to the missions of the department and College will support academic progression and increase institutional effectiveness. Supervisors are expected to provide feedback to faculty regarding prior academic year achievement, overall performance and goals for the next academic year, based upon responses provided by the faculty member. Learn more about the new system.

BCM and NSBRI in the news

The Dec. 29 cover story of Time magazine features a twin study to be performed on the first one-year mission by an American astronaut. BCM and NSBRI have leading roles in this unprecedented study that will shed new light on biomedical risks associated with long-duration human space missions. In early 2015, NSBRI and the BCM Center for Space Medicine will make further strides by opening a first-of-its-kind Astro-omics Laboratory in the Bioscience Research Collaborative.
