Childhood developmental disorders, sleep topic of discussion at monthly genetics series

The impact of developmental disorders on a child's sleep schedule will be the topic of discussion in a public forum at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the Health Museum of Houston, 1515 Hermann Dr.

The forum will feature Dr. Daniel Glaze, professor of pediatrics – neurology at Baylor College of Medicine and chief of the Sleep Clinic at Texas Children's Hospital.

Sleep problems are common during childhood but are more common in children with a developmental disorder. Glaze will discuss typical sleep problems as well as how to manage and treat them.

Sponsored by BCM and Texas Children's, the event is part of the monthly "Evening with Genetics" lecture series organized by BCM's department of molecular and human genetics. The series offers current information regarding care, education and research about genetic disorders.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Susan Fernbach at 832-822-4182 or fernbach@bcm.edu or visit the registration page at www.bcm.edu/eveninggenetics.
