BCM tackles Alzheimer's on all fronts: Mitchell Foundation Pilot Projects
The George and Cynthia Mitchell Foundation Pilot Projects are a series of studies now funded by the Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders Center. Initial support was through the Mitchell Foundation, which continues to promote Alzheimer's disease research and treatment.
The studies include:
- New Answers to Elusive Questions: Assessing Dementia of the Alzheimer's Type Within an Item Response Theory Framework. Investigators include Drs. Steve Balsis, Paul Massman and Jared Benge, all of BCM.
- Feasibility pilot study to correlate gene expression as a quantitative trait with SNPs and CNVs at the whole genome level. Investigators include Drs. Kinga Szigeti and Yanchun Li, both of BCM.
- Racial/Ethnic variability in the Role of Hyperinsulinemia and APOE Genotype in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Investigator is Dr. Valory Pavlik, of BCM.
- Pilot Project for the Validation of Spanish Dementia Neuropsychological Battery. Investigators include Dr. Michelle York and Adriana Strutt, both of BCM.
