Dr. Amy McGuire, director of the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine, was honored as one of the 2016 Women on the Move by Texas Executive Women.

McGuire researches and influences policy on the most important ethical questions in medicine and biomedical research that touch the lives of everyone. As one of the nation’s most awarded, respected and well-funded researchers and scholars in the field of bioethics, McGuire’s work on ethical and policy issues in human genetics has made her an international expert in the field.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a Woman on the Move, among so many accomplished and talented women,” said McGuire. “The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy strives to encourage critical reflection on ethical and policy changes in healthcare and research, and it is a privilege to be a part of that mission every day.”

Texas Executive Women is an organization of professional female executives from many different professions and industries who come together to network, share experiences and professional resources and who are actively involved in the community. Women on the Move recognizes and celebrates 10 exceptional women each year. McGuire accepted her award at the Women on the Move luncheon Nov. 15 at the Bayou City Events Center.

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy hosts regular community outreach events that bring important ethical conversations to the community and facilitate open and honest consideration of issues we face every day.
