Baylor College of Medicine has landed a spot on Reuters Top 100 list of most innovative universities in the world.

At No. 47 on the list, Baylor is noted for having executed 59 new technology licensing and options transactions in fiscal year 2014 and managing about 700 active technology licenses. Nine of the new agreements in FY 2014 were with startup companies established to commercialize research developed at the College.

Reuters’ criteria focused on academic papers, which indicate basic research performed at a university; and patent filings, which point to an institution’s interest in protecting and commercializing its discoveries. Data was compiled by its sister company, Thomson Reuters International Property & Science. Read more  about the ranking methodology.
