Hotel information

Dear Conference Participants:

We are excited to welcome you to the Second Neurocritical Care Research Conference and to Houston. We hope you will find the next 2½ days as stimulating as it has been for us the planning of this great event. This symposium has been funded by NINDS (1R13NS077610-01, P.I. Jose I. Suarez), St Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, and the Integra Foundation, and endorsed by the Baylor College of Medicine and the Neurocritical Care Society.

The overall goal of this interdisciplinary scientific gathering is to bring together a diverse group of academic scientists and physicians from diverse fields with a common interest in understanding and advancing research in multimodality monitoring in neurocritical care diseases. The symposium is unique in that it will provide a forum for presenting and discussing the latest advances in clinical trial design, research tools, and research priorities in the field of neuromonitoring. The need for the design of adequate clinical studies to test these monitoring techniques will also be addressed in the context of the recently created Neurocritical Care Research Network (NCRN) to facilitate collaboration and patient enrollment. In addition, this conference will provide a unique opportunity for trainees, junior faculty, and other scientists to interact with investigators in the field of neurocritical care.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the importance and opportunities for research in multimodality monitoring in neurocritical care diseases
  2. Discuss recent scientific advances related to conventional and alternative clinical trial design and research tools that will have an impact on multimodality monitoring research;
  3. Determine the future directions of research of multimodality neuromonitoring;
  4. Initiate collaborations via NCRN and other networks for multimodality neuromonitoring research.

We expect and encourage you to participate actively in the discussions following each session since your thoughts will be extremely important to complement the presentations. Your presence for the entire conference will be required. Session moderators and conference organizers will collate the information discussed throughout the meeting and prepare summary statements for publication in Neurocritical Care. In addition, we will be videotaping the entire event and the formatted videos will be posted at the website of the Neurocritical Care Society for public access.

All activities related to this conference will take place at the Marriott Houston at the Texas Medical Center (6580 Fannin St., Houston, TX 77030). We appreciate and thank you for your participation.

Sincerely,

Jose I. Suarez, M.D.
Peter D. LeRoux, M.D.
