Treatment for Cystic Fibrosis
There is no cure for cystic fibrosis. However, treatment can improve a patient’s quality of life and lessen the effects of the disease’s symptoms. Treatment options include:

- Inhaled airway clearance and antibiotic regimen
- Comprehensive nutritional management
- Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy
- Enhanced chest physiotherapy
- Aggressive antibiotic regimens
Treatment Goals
- Preventing and controlling lung infections
- Loosening and removing thick, sticky mucus from the lungs
- Preventing or treating blockages in the intestines
- Providing enough nutrition
- Preventing dehydration (a lack of fluid in the body)
