2013 Annual REACH IRACDA Symposium

As part of the Houston REACH IRACDA experience, postdoctoral fellows worked together and collaborated to host the 2013 Annual REACH IRACDA Symposium. The symposium took place on May 22, 2013. Fellows had fun working together on a variety of activities such as securing and accommodating a keynote speaker, hosting and participating in poster sessions, and reserving space and resources for symposium activities.  We were delighted to host our special guest keynote speaker, Dr. Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, professor at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, in Kansas City, Mo.  Lastly, in an effort to engage undergraduates from the three partner institutions, the symposium invited undergraduate students to actively engage a career development panel consisting of BCM Alumni who have entered the workforce in various fields in biomedical science, participate in a research poster session and to network at the symposium luncheon.

2012 Annual REACH IRACDA Symposium

The REACH IRACDA experience at the 2012 Annual REACH IRACDA Symposium took place on May 19, 2012. Fellows worked together compiling an enriching variety of activities, such as securing and accommodating a keynote speaker, hosting and participating in poster sessions, and reserving space and resources for symposium activities. In an effort to engage undergraduates from the three partner institutions, the symposium invited undergraduate students to ask questions to a career panel, participate in a research poster session, and to network at the symposium luncheon.

2011 Annual IRACDA Conference

Each year, IRACDA Fellows and program administrators from each of the participating institutions (seventeen in total currently) are invited to attend the annual IRACDA Conference. The 2011 Annual IRACDA Conference was hosted by Houston REACH IRACDA. The conference took place from Sunday, June 19 to Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Houston Downtown Hyatt Hotel and the Texas Medical Center.  One of the biggest features of this conference was a revisit of the BIO2010
book, part of an initiative intending to revolutionize undergraduate education in the biomedical sciences.
