Project Member Bios
Core Project Members
James H. Bray, Ph.D., is project director, principle investigator and core faculty for the project. He is an associate professor of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. His National Institutes of Health-funded research focuses on adolescent substance use, divorce, remarriage and stepfamilies. He is a pioneer in collaborative healthcare and primary care psychology. He also maintains an active clinical practice focusing on children and families.
Alicia Kowalchuk, DO, is assistant project director and core faculty for the project. She is an assistant professor of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Kowalchuk is medical director of InSight, coordinating screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment in the Harris Health System.
Vicki Waters, MS, PA-C, is core faculty for the project. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and assistant director of the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Allied Health Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. She is the Education and Communications consultant for the Harris Health System Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral, and Treatment program.
Larry Laufman, Ed.D., is the project evaluator. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine and is associate director for Educational Development in the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
