Faculty Awards Celebrate Excellence in Education, Service and Patient Care
Faculty Awards Day honors faculty members for their outstanding contributions to education, community service and clinical care before their colleagues, family members and College leaders.
The 4th annual omnibus ceremony on May 16, 2019, recognized recipients of the Barbara and Corbin J. Robertson, Jr. Presidential Award for Excellence in Education, Clark Faculty Service Award, Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Excellence Awards, John P. McGovern Outstanding Teacher Award, Faculty Awards for Excellence in Patient Care, and Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism.

Baylor’s most prestigious, College-wide, competitive award for faculty educational service.
John P. McGovern Outstanding Teacher Award
For outstanding teaching in the medical school curriculum.
Clark Faculty Service Award
To honor exemplary service, with professionalism.
Norton Rose Fulbright Faculty Excellence Awards
For a record of quality, quantity, and breadth of teaching and evaluation of learners, a record of significant leadership in curriculum development or educational administration, and contributions to the development of high quality, enduring educational materials.
Faculty Awards for Excellence in Patient Care
To honor outstanding contributions to the clinical mission by faculty members at the Early Career, Star and Master Clinician levels.
Graduating Class Outstanding Faculty Award
To recognize the top five faculty members as selected by fourth-year medical students.
Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism
To honor professionalism and humanism, and the recipient's ability to model these qualities in the practice of medicine.
DeBakey Excellence in Research Awards
The College honored five top researchers at the 2019 Michael E. DeBakey Excellence in Research Awards Ceremony and Symposium on May 15.
Honorees include Dr. Carl Allen, assistant professor of pediatrics – oncology; Dr. Christie M. Ballantyne, professor and vice chair of research in medicine, chief of the Sections of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research and holder of the J.S. Abercrombie Chair; Dr. Robert A. Britton, professor of molecular virology & microbiology with the Therapeutic Microbiology Laboratory and Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research; Dr. Aleksandar Milosavljevic, professor of molecular & human genetics and director of the Program in Quantitative and Computational Biosciences; and Dr. Marco Sardiello, assistant professor of molecular & human genetics. Drs. Allen, Britton and Milosavljevic are also members of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
