Two research fellows from Dr. Sundeep Keswani's Pediatric Surgery Research Laboratory for Regenerative Tissue Repair won awards at the recent 2016 Pediatric Research & Fellows' Symposium sponsored by Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.

Chad Moles, pediatric surgery post-baccalaureate research fellow, won the Department of Pediatrics Award for Research Presentation for his abstract "Scarless Surgery: Are We There Yet?" The abstract was selected as one of the top four abstracts for oral presentation. Chad was the only student to be selected.

Xinyi Wang, Ph.D., postdoctoral research fellow, received the Award for Translational Research Poster Presentation Postdoctoral Fellow (Non-Clinical) for her poster "Cross-talk of inflammatory regulation and ECM in regenerative dermal repair."

"I am very proud of Chad and Xinyi whose work has significantly moved our research forward. Also, I would congratulate Dr. Swathi Balaji for her excellent mentorship of our trainees in the Laboratory for Regenerative Tissue Repair. We appreciate the support of the Texas Children's leadership as we develop a basic science program in Surgery," said Dr. Keswani, pediatric/fetal surgeon and surgical director of basic science research at Texas Children's Hospital.
