Dr. Joseph Coselli Named Master Clinician

Joseph S. Coselli, M.D., received the Baylor College of Medicine Master Clinician Award. The award was established by Baylor President and CEO Dr. Paul Klotman to recognize faculty for their exemplary qualities of clinical excellence and expertise, consistent high level of patient care, professionalism, commendable leadership skills and continuous service to the community. Similar to the Rising Star Award, the Master Clinician Award is for full professors with 15 or more years of clinical service at Baylor.

Dr. Coselli is professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cullen Foundation Endowed Chair at Baylor, chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery at Texas Heart Institute, chief of the Adult Cardiac Surgery Section and associate chief of the Cardiovascular Service at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center.

Dr. Coselli specializes in the clinical evaluation and surgical treatment of diseases of the aorta, including the aortic valve and root, ascending aorta, aortic arch, descending thoracic aorta, and thoracoabdominal aorta. He was mentored by the pioneering aortic surgeon Dr. E. Stanley Crawford and continues to immerse himself in evolving approaches to aortic repair.

Four Surgery Faculty Named Rising Stars

Dr. Timothy Lee, Dr. Monica Lopez, Dr. Eric J. Silberfein and Dr. James W. Suliburk were honored with a Baylor College of Medicine Rising Star Award for their outstanding contributions to clinical excellence, consistent high level of patient care, commendable leadership skills and continuous exemplary service to the Baylor community. The award recognizes assistant and associate professors with at least five years of clinical service.
