Academic Background and Distinctions
John Coverdale graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Otago in 1980 (MB ChB) and completed a research M.D. at the same University in 2004. He also completed a M.Ed at the University of Houston in 2004. He had recently joined Baylor as faculty in 2000 and is currently director of the inpatient unit at Ben Taub Hospital. He has more than 150 publications in peer reviewed journals and serves as Deputy Editor of Academic Psychiatry. He is an enthusiastic writer and teacher who in 2006 was awarded the McGovern Outstanding Teacher Award for the clinical sciences.
