Education

The Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine commits to training eager psychiatrists in general and child psychiatry, and psychologists. Besides the lectures and bookwork, trainees are educated by having the experience of working with real people who are seeking real help at Houston-area hospitals and the Baylor Psychiatric Clinic. Trainees will take rotations at affiliated hospitals in the Texas Medical Center: The Methodist Hospital, Ben Taub General, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Texas Children's Hospital.

Trainees also can choose an elective rotation in their third or fourth year at The Menninger Clinic, where patients receive a broad range of therapies that emphasize treatment methods utilizing psychopharmacological medications and psychotherapies. Trainees are supervised by senior staff members, throughout each affiliated areas, who oversee their work.
