The Late-Life Anxiety Research Program

About Us

Houston Medical Center Professional Building

The purpose of the Late-Life Anxiety Research Program, under the direction of Melinda Stanley, Ph.D., is to develop and test treatments for anxiety that meet the needs of older adults.

We are particularly interested in increasing the availability and value of non-medication (in particular, cognitive behavioral) treatments in settings where older adults seek services (e.g., primary care) and in modifying treatments to make them better suited for older patients in the community (e.g., incorporating religion and spirituality).

Our research work is focused on two projects: Peaceful Living and Calmer Life. The program's goal is to conduct high-quality clinical trials that inform clinical practice and improve the lives of older people.
