Scientists in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology develop and utilize complex computational tools to model protein structure-function. Combined with experimental methodologies, these computational approaches are being used to study protein evolution, enzyme-substrate binding and receptor-ligand interactions. In addition to enhancing our understanding of enzyme function and signal transduction, these studies provide knowledge to inform the rational design of small molecules or peptides to therapeutically disrupt or reprogram pathways.
