Eating Disorders Program

The Eating Disorders Program of Texas Children’s Hospital’s Adolescent Medicine Service is designed specifically for patients 10–24 years of age. We provide a continuum of care that includes outpatient and inpatient treatment to support and manage the health of patients. Our healthcare professionals are committed to an interdisciplinary team approach with a focus on the healthy development of the patient.

Eating Disorders Treated

  • Anorexia nervosa
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Binge eating disorders or compulsive overeating
  • Eating disorders not otherwise specified

Services Provided

We offer evaluation and management in the treatment of children, adolescents and young adults suffering from eating disorders. These services include medical care, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and nutritional counseling. The interdisciplinary team meets weekly to coordinate patient care. Consultation among team members occurs as often as clinically indicated, as team members are in the same office suite. This communication is in contrast to medical, dietary, and psychological care occurring at two or more sites, which can render communication among providers fragmented.
