Patient Care

Outpatient care is provided at the renal and hypertension clinics at Texas Children's Hospital. Patients can be self-referred but generally are referred by a primary care physician. Children up to age 18 are seen for a variety of renal-related diseases including:

  • Proteinuria (protein in the urine)
  • Hematuria (blood in the urine)
  • Congenital renal disorders
  • Renal tubular disorders
  • Nephrotic syndromes
  • Cystic diseases
  • Hypertension
  • Renal failure
  • Urinary tract infections

Appointments for renal and hypertension clinics at Texas Children's may be made by calling 832-822-2778 or 832-824-3800. Please have your insurance information available when you call. Renal clinics are held on Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Thursday afternoons, every week exclucing holidays. The hypertension clinic is on Monday
