BCM's Department of Pediatrics is the largest in the United States, with more than 700 full-time faculty members across all recognized pediatric subspecialties. Baylor is ranked fifth among all medical school departments of pediatrics nationally in the 2010 U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Texas Children’s Hospital is BCM's primary affiliated pediatric teaching hospital. The largest children’s hospital in the United States, Texas Children’s is one of only eight hospitals nationally designated for Honor Roll status in pediatrics by U.S. News and World Report, ranking among America’s best in all ten specialty areas that were evaluated. BCM pediatric faculty members largely are based and practice at Texas Children’s. Trainees work in the inpatient and outpatient areas of Texas Children’s and numerous community-based ambulatory sites, as well as at the Ben Taub Hospital of the Harris Health System.

Despite its size, our program prides itself on approaching and supporting each trainee as an individual with his or her own unique interests and needs. We never forget that our trainees are the lifeblood of our department and hospital.

There never has been a more exciting time to study pediatric medicine, and there is no better place than BCM and Texas Children’s to be part of the innovative patient care, research and education that will impact millions of children’s lives in the years ahead. We hope that you will consider joining us in our commitment to excellence and quest for preeminence in pediatrics.
