Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition
Physicians in the Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine see more than 20,000 children a year in clinics at Texas Children's Hospital. BCM pediatricians treat children suffering from intestinal, liver and nutritional disorders, including:
- Biliary atresia
- Chronic diarrhea
- Chronic hepatitis
- Failure to thrive
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Peptic ulcers
- Poor growth
Founded in 1970 by Dr. Buford Nichols, the Baylor/Texas Children's program is one the largest and busiest in the United States. In 2012, U.S. News and World Report ranked it fourth in the nation.
Our section consists of 39 faculty members and a support staff of 86, all dedicated to providing the highest standard of clinical care, research and education.
