Global Health Track and Curriculum
The track and its curriculum have been modified from the curricula of successful adult emergency international health fellowships, as well as from competencies proposed for adult emergency international health fellowships.
The timeline for the global health track parallels the standard PEM fellowship clinical and didactic curricula. The notable differences include the allocation of up to three months/year for global health training within the three-year PEM Fellowship. Fellows commit to remaining as Baylor College of Medicine Faculty for one additional year beyond their fellowship training, during which time they complete any additional Global Health work.
Additional opportunities for formal training include:
- International Committee of the Red Cross's three-week Health Emergencies in Large Populations (H.E.L.P.) Course.
- Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM+H).
- Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) at the University of Texas School of Public Health
