PEM Global Health Track
The BCM pediatric emergency medicine global health track was established in 2005 in response to growing interest in global health and international emergency medicine among applicants applying to our pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program. In addition to the standard pediatric emergency medicine curriculum, the program provides additional training and experience in global health. It is intended for those who are seeking a career in academic pediatric emergency medicine and/or medical leadership and research focusing on domestic and international health disparities. Individuals completing the fellowship will be prepared to develop, integrate, and evaluate healthcare programs on a global scale.
Formal fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine and global health at Baylor College of Medicine is supported by the following:
- A well-established pediatric emergency medicine fellowship with strong clinical and academic components
- A mechanism for funding global health activities without needing to apply for outside grants or using personal resources.
- An established global health program that is the first combined fellowship of its kind in the United States
Faculty with interest, experience, and active projects in global health in the PEM section and in the department of pediatrics at BCM
