April 20, 2007

Martin Yudovich, President of the BPAA, called the meeting to order on April 20, 2007. He welcomed all the attendees and thanked the organizers of the Pediatric Postgraduate Symposium, Drs. Drutz, Stein, and Cabrera-Meza. Dean Gmoser, Secretary-Treasurer, then read the minutes of last year's meeting and indicated a balance of $2,546 in the account after this year's donations are made.

Before presenting the donations to Dr. Feigin, Dr. Gmoser presented a plaque to Dr. Yudovich for his two years of service as President. He then gave Dr. Feigin checks for $7,000 (Blattner Lectureship), $5,000 (Reba Hill Scholarship), and $1,000 (Infant Car Seat Program). Dr. Feigin also expressed his appreciation for Dr. Yudovich's service and then proceeded to give his state of the Pediatric Department at Baylor address.

Next, the winner of the Reba Hill Scholarship was announced. Sanjiv Harpavat, M.D., will work to improve childhood nutrition by preparing residents to discuss nutrition with parents and approaching fast food companies to help influence pediatric nutrition positively. Morven Edwards, M.D. was then introduced, and gave an inspiring tribute to Dr. Carol Baker, our Blattner Lecturer, for all the wonderful work she has done to save infant lives due to Group B streptococcus.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Dean J. Gmoser, M.D.
