Statement of Goals:
The student works with mechanical ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters, and metabolic and nutritional support with emphasis on their physiologic foundations. Also taught at the VAMC
Learning Activities
This course is designed to augment the students understanding of basic medical sciences by applying them in patients with severely deranged physiology. The technical consideration for these interventions is also addressed. Night call in the SICU, every fourth night is required. Course open to all students who have completed the core surgery rotation with passing grade or higher. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the course director.
