Statement of Goals:
This elective will be offered only in the following months: August, September, October, January, March, April, and June. The maximum enrollment is 13 per month. Faculty approval required for non-Baylor students. (Approval must be secured from Dr. Arun Nachiappan by contacting Ms. Becky Baxter). Please do not contact individual faculty. Placement at BTGH and SLEH requires two months of cores as a pre-requisite. A student taking radiology elective 570-506 or 570-508 MUST attend the course orientation given at 8:00-9:00 AM on the first day of the elective. The goals, objectives, course outline schedules and expectations are all discussed at this time.
Learning Activities
1) Rotate through Breast Imaging, Chest, Emergency Center, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Musculoskeletal, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound/Computed Tomography (maximum one week in each subsection) 2) Learn basic principles of radiographic studies and procedures 3) Understand indications for ordering different imaging modalities 4) Become familiar with the basic radiographic studies such as chest radiographs, extremity radiographs and abdominal radiographs 5) Review the online Radiology teaching file - located on the Baylor Radiology website - www.bcm.edu/radiology - Go the the "Education" and select "Teaching Files" 6) Understand how to utilize the radiologist as a consultant.
