|Our goal is for you to develop an understanding of the special needs of children in the emergency care setting. In the Emergency Center at Texas Children’s Hospital, we care for over 80,000 children annually. In addition to the main Emergency Center area, the Rapid Treatment Area (RTA)and the Acute Treatment Area have been established to care for patients with less serious illnesses and are staffed by the Emergency Medicine Section. All of your shifts (16 per month) will be in the main department or RTA.|
|Throughout the elective the student works closely with Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty to gain experience and facilitate learning. This clinical experience is in the Pediatric Emergency Center at Texas Children's Hospital.|
|While on this elective rotation, you will be required to work four 10-hour shifts per week.
PEDIATRIC CORE ROTATION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE REGISTRATION FOR THIS ELECTIVE.
