Statement of Goals:
This experience emphasizes the general practices of pyschiatry and particular concern for it's child-adolescent and family aspects. The basic approach is a family system perspective as explicated in specific families and troubled children. We include an introduction; the method, theory and application of a variety of pychological test procedures and opportunities to observe the administration of these procedures.
Learning Activities
The elective is tailored to meet the student's specific needs. In addition, this experience emphasizes behavioral pediatrics in the fullest sense in a pyschiatric private practice setting. Adults are also seen with a wide range of patients and home visits are done. Readings, discussion, and supervision occupy a number of hours per week, which is in addition to the hours spent in clinical work.
